Harris Township Park at Brummitt Road

on Brummitt Road, just east of Beech Road in Granger, Indiana

 You’ll find: approximately 30 acres, the Sue Dylewski playground, a pavilion, soccer fields maintained by the ECHO Soccer Club, additional fields to the east, an open field along Brummitt Road, bird boxes

Operating times and season: 8 am to dusk daily; the park closes for the season soon after Thanksgiving and opens again in the spring, typically in mid-to-late March depending on the forecast. Please do not enter when closed. The driveway and parking lots are not plowed. There is no trash service over the winter months.

Location: in Granger, Indiana at approximately 10650 Brummitt Road between Beech and County Line (or Ash) Road. On the south side of Brummitt Road, approximately a mile west of Discovery/Horizon schools. Bordered by the Indiana Toll Road on the south, and Gast Ditch on the west.

Rules:

  • keep dogs leashed at all times, and off the playground

  • please pick up trash and either place it in a receptacle or take your trash with you if possible

  • the pavilion is shared use; any use by more than 10 people requires prior, written approval

  • no fires, alcohol, glass, fireworks, foul language, loud music

  • all play is at your own risk; children must be supervised

  • no unattended parking at any time, especially overnight

 Notes:

  • The walk around the perimeter of the park is approximately one mile.

  • All areas of this park are available for public use, but not at all times. ECHO soccer fields reserved for their priority use as needed.

  • In the Spring of 2015, eight bluebird boxes and many fruit trees were planted along Gast Ditch.

    Thanks to the Audubon Society for helping to make HTP at Brummitt Road more bird-friendly. A Kestrel Hawk box sits in the southeast corner of the park near the toll road, and an owl box can be seen at the edge of the woods from the entry driveway.
