South Bend Tribune article: Next Granger path on Adams Road nears paving (by Joe Dits)

GRANGER -- The next 3.5-mile section of the walking/biking trail along Adams Road could be paved next year, taking the existing trail between Indiana 23 and Elm Road and extending it west to Gumwood Road.

The nonprofit group Granger Paths is just a couple of hundred dollars shy of raising about $250,000, which is the match it needs in order to secure federal dollars to cover the rest of the project, said President Barbara Fredman. In all, this extension would cost roughly $1 million to pave, said Jessica Clark, engineer for St. Joseph County, which will oversee the construction.

Bids will be taken in November or December so that work can begin next spring, she said.

Already, the trail is leading townships here to add an extra park and trail.
