Assistance is a township service

Township Assistance (aka Poor Relief or Welfare) is a program that provides temporary help to residents in need.

The most common awards pay for utilities or shelter, but in some instances for food, medicine, or burials.

You must be a Harris Township resident to receive help from Harris Township, but all Indiana townships participate.

Eligibility also considers household income and actual expenditures. Please be prepared to provide your primary address, recent household income, and the nature of the need.

To request assistance, please contact the township by phone 574.272.2371 or by email.
