Fire protection and emergency medical services are provided through an arrangement with the Clay Fire Territory. Fire stations are located:

Harris Township Park – now Harris Township Park at Brummitt Road
Located on Brummitt Road about a mile west of the county line, the park provides approximately 30 acres of open spaces and a small wooded area, a large playground, playing fields, and bird habitats. The park is also home to the Michiana Echo Soccer Club and has been used by the PENN Lacrosse Program. [View on Map]
Elm Road Pedestrian Park – now Harris Township Park at Elm Road
Located between the Harris branch library and the fire station on Elm Road, along the Granger Path. An empty field has been transformed into a new park. In November of 2016, pickleball and basketball courts were created, along with a ball diamond and walkway. In 2017, the township raised up a playground.
A program that provides temporary help to people in need. Income limits and guidelines apply.
The township maintains two cemeteries, to the extent required by Indiana statute:
- Salem Cemetery: Just west of the St. Joseph and Elkhart county line, just north of Brummitt Road
- Harris Prairie Cemetery: On the south side of Adams Road less than a mile east of Fir Road
New cemetery rules are in effect, with plants subject to removal.
No grave sites are for sale. Burials require proof of ownership. Plan ahead.
